FL2 Florida Gulfcoast Chaper
Minutes
March 12th, 2011
Eight members attended our March meeting on Sat. the 12th, at the Morris
J. Dixon MCL Building on Jasper St. in Largo.
Meeting was opened with prayer by the Chaplain Doris Plummer and the
Pledge of Allegiance was lead by our President Lucille Gunion.
Treasurer Sylvia Morgan gave her report. Maxine Wehry made motion to
accept it and Jean Sivik seconded. Motion carried.
Minutes of last meeting were read. Doris PLummer made motion to accept
as read, Jean Sivik seconded. Motion carried.
Maxine, VAVS Rep. Reported the following : It's time to donate to the
Summer Student Program at Bay Pines VAMC. Pres. Lucille Gunion made
motion and seconded by Treasurer Sylvia Morgan to send $50.00. Motion
carried.
The Director of Bay Pines VAMC, Wallace Hopkins is retiring as soon as
they find a replacement.
The new Oncology / Radiation Building will have an Open House, Monday
March 21, 2011 at 10 AM. Building is on Bay Pines grounds adjacent to
the Fisher House.
Lucille, PCVC Rep. reported the dinner honoring Bob Swick, a Marine who
received the Sgt. Cook award was a huge success. She also will be
collecting information from the organization about the Honor Flights
for WW 2 Veterans to Washington D.C.
We discussed an appropriate gesture for us to present at the funerals
for our members besides the donation to National in their memory. It was
decided we will now send a Lady Marine Red Rose to the Funeral Home or
Memorial Service.
We lost another member, Mary Catherine Sullivan on February 18th. A
memorial service will be held at the Eagles Lodge 3451` 63rd Ave N in Pinellas Park on Saturday, March 26th, at 2:00 PM
SEMPER FI....REST IN PEACE MARINE
Our next meeting is May 14, 2011, a picnic in Taylor Park, 1100 8th Ave.
SW, Largo, at noon. This is across the street from PInecrest where we
have our Christmas Party. If anyone forgets what they are to bring
please call Maxine. Meeting adjourned with prayer by Chaplain Doris Plummer at 2:30 PM.
